Last year, as a result of cooperation between the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia and the Ivane Javakhishvili Institute of History at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, an international conference entitled “NATIONAL-LIBERATION AND ANTI-SOVIET MOVEMENT IN THE CAUCASUS AND EAST CENTRAL EUROPE” was held at Tbilisi State University from 3 to 5 October 2024. The conference was dedicated to the centenary of the 1924 Georgian uprising.

From the Institute of History, participants included the Director of the Institute, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Academician Ashot Melkonyan, and the Armenian programme coordinator, Harutyun Khudanyan, a researcher at the Institute’s Department of Ancient History.

Academician A. Melkonyan delivered a presentation in Georgian, entitled “The Anti-Soviet Struggle for the Preservation of Armenia’s Independence in 1920-1921.”
