OPEN LECTURE–PRESENTATION IN GEORGIAN ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS ON THE ORIGIN AND FORMATION OF THE ARMENIAN PEOPLE

From September 30 to October 3, 2025, Harutyun Khudanyan, Research Fellow at the Department of Ancient History of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, delivered a series of open lectures on the topic “The Origin and Formation of the Armenian People in the Light of Recent Data” at several leading Georgian academic institutions.

Invited by the Caucasus University of Tbilisi, the Chair of Armenian Studies at Tbilisi State University, the Ivane Javakhishvili Institute of History, and the Institute of Oriental Studies at Ilia State University, H. Khudanyan’s lectures attracted wide interest among both academic circles and students.

The first lecture took place at the Chair of Armenian Studies of Tbilisi State University, attended by faculty members, students, and specialists. Among the participants were Dr. Natia Chantladze, Head of the Chair, researchers Lela Jejelava, Nino Aptsiauri, Khatuna Gaprindashvili, and Dali Chitunashvili.

On October 1, H. Khudanyan presented his slide-show lecture at the Caucasus University, located in the historic building of the former Nersisian Armenian School, built by the renowned Armenian philanthropist Alexander Mantashev. The lecture was attended by Guram Lezhava, Vice-Rector of the University, Prof. Davit Natroshvili, Dean of the Faculty of History, faculty members, and numerous students. Notably, Caucasus University is a modern higher educational institution with about 10,000 students, including many Armenians.

On October 2, H. Khudanyan was invited to the Institute of Oriental Studies of Ilia State University, where he was warmly welcomed by the Director of the Institute, Prof. Giorgi Sanikidze. The meeting took place in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, and Prof. Sanikidze conveyed his warm greetings to Armenian colleagues.

Finally, on October 3, the concluding lecture was held at the Institute of History of Tbilisi State University, where H. Khudanyan received high praise and a cordial welcome from Prof. Giorgi Tcheishvili, Director of the Institute, Prof. Valerian Vashakidze, Deputy Director, Prof. Lavrenti Janiashvili, Chair of the Academic Council, Prof. Giorgi Mamardashvili, ethnographer, and others.

The presentation concluded with an engaging discussion in a Q&A format, during which participants shared valuable professional remarks and insights.
